Key Dates at a Glance
The Match runs on an annual cycle. Applicants register for an ERAS token about two years before their fellowship would start, apply during ERAS’s December cycle, and learn results on NRMP Match Day roughly 13–14 months after token registration. As of August 2026, the cycle for the July 2027 start has already completed its Match Day; the next cycle (July 2028 start) is opening soon.
The Match year is named per the year of the Match Day. Therefore, the class starting training in July 2028 would find out their Match results in May 2027, after participating in the “2027 Match”. As applicants have approximately one year ahead of Match Day to prepare their applications, this means that, for this class, ERAS tokens can be obtained in June 2026.
